Urban Mandalas

On March 5, 2011 the Rubin Museum of Art’s Family Day celebrated Himalayan New Year (Losar) with multiple events throughout the building. The Theater was turned into a mandala construction zone with the help of Urban River Arts and sand mandala maker, Dorgee Gombu.  Families were able to participate in the construction and dismantling of the Urban Mandala, made from recycled arts materials, and watch demonstrations of traditional sand mandala making throughout the day.  All Photos by Evi Abler.
