Week-in-Review: November 12 – 18, 2011

We celebrated our Gala this week with a packed house. An awesome group from the Visitor Experience Team was on hand to welcome guests and explore art. I especially loved the mudra projections on the spiral staircase.

The Teens had an exceptionally cool art-filled week with visits from Chitra Ganesh in Art Labs and Aaron Johnson in RMA Teens. Aaron shared his beautiful monster paintings followed by a hands-on workshop on how to make backwards paintings.Modernist Art from India: The Body Unbound opened this week and the exhibition is quite extraordinary. Curator, Beth Citron led a wonderful staff walk-through in the morning (her third overview this week!). Be sure to check out the Modern Indian Art Movement from India Timeline, and the Audio Tour on iTunes. The show opened just in time for Laura to introduce a group of faculty from Queensborough Community College to the work during a Faculty Professional Development, and they later brainstormed on curriculum development. We hope to see more groups from QCC, one of our favorite University Partners, later this school year.
