Yak Packing

I had the privilege to follow the Yak Packers around for the past two days and take a few photos. I wish all of my meetings could take place around a colorful carpet. We read a story about feet- something that young children see a lot of in our museum (sometimes it’s the only part of a sculpture that a 2 year old can see in a tall case).

Looking with our eyes and not with our hands is an important lesson to learn before we go into the galleries. Pointing is important. Sometimes if we don’t know the words for what we are seeing, we have to indicate our interest with our hands.

Looking and pointing at sculptures is one thing- making them helps us to remember what they are. After all that pointing, it’s good to explore with our hands.

At the end of the class, we all ring the bell! This helps us to remember the class and to say goodbye to each individual child.
