Organized Touch Collection – Thank you Box Tops!

Last summer I ventured out to the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver and fell in love with their Multiversity Galleries which showcase over 10,000 objects. Many of the smaller objects were housed in their own little box with label.

We have an ever growing collection of touch objects in our Education Center. All of our Educators can go in and out of our cases to use the objects, and sometimes the objects are placed too close to each other when they are returned. The box top solution from the Museum of Anthropology helps to keep the objects organized (Thanks to Andrew who found box tops and added a new shelf).

Our next step is to label all of the boxes, and we’re going to have to make some custom cases to fit larger items.

The new Education Center mantra: An organized touch collection is a utilized touch collection!
