Liberty Students Visit the Rubin

A group of 25 students from Liberty High School, just a block away and one of the Rubin Museum’s partners, arrived today for a split tour, led by Guides Megan and Errol. The students arrived promptly at 10 am, before the museum had even opened, and were excited to collaborate with their guides to better understand the works of art.

They began with the newly opened exhibition on the fifth floor, Once Upon Many Times, and with an image of the Buddha. The students came with a familiarity with Buddhist art, but Megan helped them contextualize by pointing out where the locations of the art were on the map.

The students got a chance to really delve deep into the art with 23 seconds of silent contemplation in front of the works.

Afterwards, they discussed the imagery and symbolism in each work. Sometimes, you need to get realllllly close to see the important details…

Thanks for visiting, Liberty! See you soon!
