Designed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership, this new two-floor, five-thousand-square-foot space includes an art studio, commons room, seminar room, and display space for student art and the museums study collection. The design supports and enhances the educational programming that has been a hallmark of the museum since its founding. Programming in the new facility focuses on school and tour programs, family and after-school youth development programs, an expansion of university and adult programs, and new endeavors. The educational aims of the center will remain thoroughly grounded in the arts and social studies, and programs will continue to use our inquiry-based methodologies.
Capital funding for the Education Center has been provided, in part, by the the Rubin Museum Board of Trustees, for whom the lobby is named, with an additional gift from trustee Eileen Caulfield Schwab for the Terence W. Schwab Education Office.
